ANNA ISS MEE HANAN

What's your name? Where are you from? How'd you get here? Why'd you come?

There are a million unanswered questions for Hannan when she arrives in Thorton-Cleveleys. She can't speak English, so how can she meet new people, communicate her needs and find connection in this strange new world?

Anna's got her own questions: will she ever see the end of breakfast detention? Is Dean running his mouth at the Loft? and will her phone ever stop beeping? Can't Miss see that she's busy and hasn't got time to help some mute girl get her bearings?

Despite the mountain of challenges ahead of them, these two unlikely friends can build a meaningful connection beyond language and culture. Together, they find mutual understanding in the face of adversity, wordless jokes that are funny the world over and, most importantly, a united voice that speaks for all women and transcends their differences.

Anna Iss Mee Hanan is a vibrant theatre production about what it means to be a non-English speaking refugee arriving in this country, how unassailable friendships can move beyond difference and the indestructible strength of global sisterhood.
